Our Vision

The Washington and Oregon coastlines are dotted with historic small towns that were founded with good purpose and grew naturally. Their initial architectural forms reflect their environment and echo the remarkable livability and welcoming nature of small-town America.

Our commitment is to create a walkable, sustainable, enduring village that reflects the beauty of the adjacent Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area and unspoiled ocean beaches.

A Walkable Community

Arrive, leave your car in park, and enjoy a walkable, pedestrian-oriented neighborhood with tree-lined boulevards and clusters of cottages carefully sited to protect wetlands and promote privacy. Foot and bike trails will line the community and connect with miles of Ocean Shores’ paved roads and trails.

Walk or ride your bike to pristine driftwood-covered beaches overlooking Grays Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. It’s a tranquil, scenic beach with no car traffic, and no crowds. You can also walk or ride a short way to the west to join the vast Pacific Ocean beaches that go all the way to “downtown” Ocean Shores.

The newly opened Oyhut Bay Bistro serves an ecclectic menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, steak, seafood, and pizza.  They are open to serve you Tuesday through Sunday, 12 am to 9 pm. With a Champagne, buffet style brunch served throughout the Bistro, Coffee Co and Loft from 10-2pm.  Upstairs is The Loft Martini Bar, featuring craft cocktails, local beer,  wine, and a full dining menu. Watch for boutique events and live entertaiment.

Oyhut Bay will feature a variety of shopping options, anchored by a fresh market, bringing farm-to-market produce and high-quality artisan foods to the Oyhut Bay community and surrounding neighborhoods. Additional specialty shops and services will feature the best of local arts and crafts along with unique gifts, clothing, and décor items.

What can you do at Oyhut Bay? The list is endless. Take a nature stroll through the 683-acre Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area right next door. Explore the miles and miles of ocean and harbor beach. Break out your surfboard, kiteboard or boogie board for some real thrills. Paddle along the 23 miles of adjacent freshwater canals and lakes. Play on the Oyhut Bay trails, parks, and playgrounds. Gather the family for bocce ball. Or head out for the afternoon to paddleboard the 23 miles of canals right next to Oyhut Bay Resort. You’ll never be bored here.

Onsite rentals are available all year round. Take a spin with the rental bicycles, electric bikes, mopeds, kayaks, and SUPs. Come pedal, ride or paddle the quiet side streets and canals of “The Natural Side of Ocean Shores.”

Oyhut Canals

One of Ocean Shores’ hidden treasures is its 23-mile network of freshwater canals and lakes. This is a recreation highlight for visitors in the know. The new community of Oyhut Bay borders Oyhut Canal and the canal system, giving owners and guests waterfront access. It’s the perfect place to canoe, kayak or paddle-board. Avid fishermen will enjoy the fact that Duck Lake is stocked for year ‘round fishing.

We currently have a small community dock available to access the freshwater canals. Future plans for The Landing at Oyhut Bay – a park and small-craft boat dock to make it easy for residents and guests to enjoy this recreational wonder.

Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area

This 683-acre site has been set aside by the State of Washington to protect its woodlands, wetlands and tidal flats. It is a birders’ paradise! Here you will find blue herons, brown pelicans, snowy owls, pheasants, snowy plovers, and so much more. In fact, over the course of a year, nearly every major migratory waterfowl in North America makes a stop in our neighborhood. It’s a place where one can truly enjoy the peace and wonder of nature, walking from dense woods with a wide variety of plants, trees, and wildlife to miles of quiet, driftwood lined ocean beaches.
