Whale of a Tale cottage welcomes you to enjoy the perfect stay, nestled here in Oyhut Bay Seaside Village. Enjoy a delicious meal and craft cocktails at the Oyhut Bay Grill, grab a glass of wine or pint of beer at Corks and Taps, shop for groceries for your stay and enjoy homemade baked goods from the Oyhut Bay Market and Bakery, and make sure to stop by our other retail shops throughout the village.


With all the comforts of home, Whale of a Tale cottage is the perfect retreat for your next beach adventure. Whale of a Tale cottage is not a pet friendly cottage.

Oyhut Bay Seaside Village is built on the edge of the Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area. Often called the “natural side” of Ocean Shores, this area offers miles of sea level hiking. Bring your camera for some wonderful nature photography. The nearby north jetty has spectacular waves to enjoy from afar - especially at high tide or on a stormy day.

Just across Marine View Drive, Oyhut Bay provides access to 26 miles of canals for kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding. Even on the rainiest of beach days, there is something for everyone at Oyhut Bay. Enjoy a relaxing fire in the fireplace and a good book. There are no bad days at the beach.

Lovely time at Oyhut Bay

Lovely time at Oyhut Bay. We stayed at Whale of a Tale cottage and really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful space with lots of room for a family. All the needed amenities were provided in the house. The home was very clean and we felt very safe staying there. Really enjoyed our experience! Really enjoyed it! Home was lovely and very clean. Only comment I could mention would be the TV channels had very little kids options. Nick Jr or Disney jr would be a great addition!

Cottage was very pretty and the location was great

Cottage was very pretty and the location was great. We were right across the street from the outdoor games, a fire pit we used in the evening to relax, have a drink and visit and the restaurant is amazing. It is a quick drive to downtown and about a 15 minute walk to the beach (or a few minutes to drive). It was nice being away from any crowds. Felt like you were in a separate little town and seeing the deer was amazing as well. We will definitely be back again!

I just loved this place

I just loved this place. The house was very clean and had everything. The grounds was very clean and had a little of something for everyone. From bikes to rent to chess, volleyball, horse shoes and even a little playground for the little ones. The best thing they even had a small band that played at night for a few hours. The best thing too is the office place is very helpful
